Where do I start?
He just popped the question. You said yes (of course!). You told your parents and friends as well as Facebooked, Instagrammed, and Tweeted pics of your gorgeous new rock. Now what?? Many clients come to me at the very beginning stages of their planning full of design ideas and a rough idea of budget thinking they have the very foundation of planning in place. Although the budget is an very important part of the event foundation, it is most helpful if the guest list is drafted as well. Knowing at least a rough estimate of how many guests will attend your event is an integral part of determining if the budget you have set for your event is realistic.
There is a lot of help available to help create your guest list. Websites can provide tips for how to go about this delicate task regardless of where you are in the process. If you are in the beginning stages of creating your list, check out Real Simple Magazine for suggestions on how to simplify your guest list. The Knot has some great ideas on how to cut your list down if you have already created your list and it is larger than expected. No matter where you are in your guest list creation, try to keep your focus on creating an event that is true to you and your future spouse.
